I see woodseya1 loves to cook. I cook also, but very limited. We are the picky type, basic meat and potatoes. It would be so nice if you, or anyone listed some basic recipes. We are sick of eating the same things. When your picky it's hard not to eat the same stuff. Thank you

Probably be easier to say what I do like lol. Don't like mushrooms, tomatoes(chunks to), funky cheeses, only white American, cooked peppers, oh no mayo either does that help?

Something like this

French-Fried Onion Meatloaf

1 1/2 pounds ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup ketchup
3/4 cup herb-seasoned dry bread stuffing mix
1/2 (1 ounce) package dry Ranch-style dressing mix
1 (6 ounce) can French-fried onions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, combine meat, eggs, ketchup, stuffing mix, ranch dressing mix and fried onions. Shape into loaf and fit into 9 x 5-inch loaf pan
. Bake, covered loosely with foil, for 50 to 60 minutes, or until meat is thoroughly cooked.

Au Gratin Potatoes

About 4 large Idaho potatoes, peeled,
    sliced very thin
1 or 2 onions, sliced thin

Layer the above in a buttered dish. Sprinkle salt and fresh ground black pepper between the layers

Sauce:
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter
1 to 2 tablespoons flour
About 2 cup milk
3/4 to 1 cup cheese (more or less) sharp
    Cheddar, Velveeta, Swiss, etc., grated
Bread crumbs, plain or mixed with parmesan cheese

Melt butter, add flour to make a loose paste ( you have to judge this one...the thicker the paste, the thicker the sauce). Don't let it brown. Add milk and mix together with a whisk until it gets thick. Add some salt and pepper. Add cheese. Pour sauce between the layers. You can add more cheese between the layers too. Top with cheese and a thin layer of plain bread crumbs. Bake in a 400 degree F oven for 1 1/2 hours.

Love the sound of the Twinkies-Strawberry Dessert, minus the pecans don't like nuts either. Meatloaf I will try also no ranch tho. See I told you I am picky. Maybe I should get a basic cookbook. I think me and hubby don't eat anything unless it's made with hamburger

I learned along time ago that unless a recipe calls for very specific instructions they can be used as a guideline.

Brownie Banana Split Pizza

1 (12.9 or 15 ounce) box brownie mix
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (NOT evaporated milk)
1/2 cup frozen pineapple or orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons lemon juice (fresh or bottled from concentrate)
Sliced bananas and strawberries
Pecan or walnut halves
1 (1 ounce) square semisweet chocolate
1 tablespoon margarine or butter

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare brownie mix as package directs. On a greased pizza pan, baking stone or baking sheet, press batter into 12-inch circle. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Cool.

Meanwhile, in small mixer bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Stir in pineapple or orange juice concentrate and vanilla extract. Chill this mixture thoroughly.

Spoon the cream cheese filling over brownie crust. Dip banana slices into fresh lemon juice or bottled lemon juice concentrate. Drain slices then arrange them over top of the pizza. Arrange strawberries and nuts over the top.

In small saucepan, over low heat, melt chocolate with margarine, drizzle over top. Chill until set, about 1 hour. Refrigerate leftovers.

Makes 1 (12-inch) pie.
